A new Police Scotland campaign is encouraging bookmakers across Scotland to increase security and awareness at their premises.

Police say they want to reduce the number of robberies and ensure bookies are a safe place to work and visit.

Superintendent Alan Cunningham, of Police Scotland, said: "By working with partners through the National Bookmakers Forum we can ensure best practice is passed on.

"Staff have been trained to recognise suspicious behaviour, stolen money can be traced, safes have time delays and CCTV which all help keep people safe in bookmakers' shops."
