There appears to be no suspicious circumstances in connection with the discovery of human remains in Argyll and Bute, police have said.
The remains were found near Arrochar on Thursday.
Police Scotland said formal identification has still to take place and further forensic examinations, including DNA tests, are still to be carried out.
A spokesman said: "Enquiries are continuing and no further information is available at this time.
"However, there appear to be no suspicious circumstances in connection with the death."
Reports have linked the discovery to the search for a Russian student missing for more than seven months.
Yulia Solodyankina, 22, who was studying physics at Edinburgh University, was reported missing on June 12.
