TELEVISION students from City of Glasgow College are celebrating success at the Royal Television Society Scotland Awards.

Fist Punch, a short television sketch-show pilot which was written and directed by five City of Glasgow College students, took home the Undergraduate Entertainment Award.

Judges said the film was "clearly made with a remarkable degree of professionalism and knew its audience well".

Ally Lockart, who studies Television at City of Glasgow College, helped write and direct the film. He said: "I've been nominated for a few awards before but this is the first one that I've actually won so I'm really pleased.

"We made the film as part of our third year final project and it was really fun because the brief was to make a scripted TV show pilot.

"We do a lot of documentary work at college so it was great that we got to explore the comedy genre, as that's the area I'd like to work in after I graduate and it was great experience."

Those involved with the event were invited to attend to media master classes with director Michael Hines of Chewin' the Fat and Still Game and creative director Paul Murray, who worked on Antiques Road Trip and Location, Location, Location.

The Awards Scotland Chairman James Wilson added: "As Head of School of Creative Industries at City of Glasgow College, I'm delighted that our students have won the entertainment award once again.

"The quality of work that was entered across all the categories was fabulous and represents a diverse and vibrant developing television community in Scotland."
