The Wales Senior Ladies Hockey Team is the first in the UK to announce its squad for Glasgow 2014.
The 16-player squad was announced by the team's head coach, Amanda Parrington and is made from a cocktail of novice and veteran players.
24 ladies trained zealously over the past year, competing against each other with the hope of being selected to represent the team at Glasgow.
During the selection process, Parrington recognised those who have consistently worked to the best of their ability throughout their practice and did not take age or experience into account. One of the team's players is 18-year-old Danielle Jordan.
Jordan is in the midst of completing her A-levels and will complete her final exam before heading to a warm-up game in Wales directly after. The Commonwealth Games will see her make her debut for the nation as a senior.
She is the team's youngest player and made her first appearance as a junior in 2011 and played in last year's European Championships in Athens. Jordan recently earned her first cap for Wales as a senior, alongside Beth Bingham and Eloise Laity, who also form part of the Commonwealth team.
Xeena Hughes, daughter of Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes, has also been drafted after a strong season with her club, University of Birmingham.
Hughes, who plays defence, won a gold medal at the European Championship in Greece last year. The 21-year-old was a principal player during this tournament where the Welsh won every game in the third tier. She has represented the nation for the last two seasons.
The squad will be captained by Abi Welsford who scored against New Zealand during the last round of Commonwealth Games which took place in Delhi in 2010.
