HUNDREDS of young people from secondary schools across Scotland are to receive a special award from the Catholic Church.
The Pope Benedict XVI Caritas Award, which encourages and promotes the ongoing faith journey of young people, will be given to 1000 pupils at a ceremony in the Clyde Auditorium on Saturday.
They have volunteered in their school and faith communities, offering practical support to others.
Six Scottish Bishops will attend the event along with Rt. Rev. John Chalmers, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland QC.
