THE world's oldest competing pipe band is aiming to make history at this year's World Pipe Band Championships.
Wallacestone and District Pipe Band, which was formed in 1887, has once again signed up for the biggest event in the piping calendar.
The historic band will take on the best pipers from all over the globe when the World Pipe Band Championships return to Glasgow Green on Saturday August 16, with Grade 1 qualifiers being staged the previous day.
Based in Falkirk, Wallacestone and District Pipe Band competed in the first event, which was held in 1947, and won the competition in 1980.
