A CHARITY has given out two tonnes of food to the needy in the last year.
Basics Food Bank (Lanarkshire) was launched in 2010 in Motherwell and now has four outlets in the area.
In March 2012, a Basics food bank was opened in Airdrie, making it the first in the town.
The Motherwell outlet is open to people in need on Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon, while the Wishaw store alternates between a Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning.
The Airdrie centre is open on Tuesday and Thursday morning, while Bellshill is open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
