PERSONAL bankruptcies in Scotland have reached their lowest level in over six years.
Corporate insolvencies have also fallen by over a fifth (22%) in the last year, and have halved since the worst period in summer 2012, according to Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) figures for July to September.
Total personal insolvencies rose slightly (0.8%) on the previous quarter on the back of a 10% rise in protected trust deeds (PTDs), where an affordable repayment to creditors is agreed as an alternative to bankruptcy.
However, personal insolvencies were 12.5% down.
