A gun was fired during an attempted robbery at a wholesale drinks supplier.
A man entered Kwik Keg in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, and fired a shot into the ground when staff told him they had no access to the store safe.
He demanded they get into the back of a van and stay there until he had left the premises on Southcroft Road.
The suspect, who wore a balaclava, targeted the beer, spirits and wine wholesaler at around 8.30am today.
He drove off in a silver Vauxhall Corsa which was later found abandoned and set on fire in Rutherglen Cemetery on Mill Street.
Detective Inspector David Scott said: "Thankfully no one was injured during the attempted robbery. However, it was a very frightening experience for the staff. This was a brazen incident involving a firearm being discharged and it's paramount that we trace the man responsible
.
"There have been some reports that he was wearing a white shirt with a collar, dark trousers and white trainers.
"If anyone saw a man of this description in the area of Rutherglen Cemetery at around 8.45am, we would ask that you get in contact with officers at Cambuslang on 101.
"Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
