A NEW advert by Scotland's biggest recruitment website has gone viral.

The "Davey knows" campaign for s1jobs has triggered hundreds of thousands of followers on YouTube and generated a record number of onsite visits last month.

River City soap star Paul Corrigan was signed up to take on the role of "twerking" pub oracle Davey in an advert which was launched only a few weeks ago but has been watched on YouTube by almost 400,000 viewers.

And it's also generated a staggering 1.5million hits on the sljobs website, with people logging on from around the world since the campaign was screened for the first time last month on STV and Channel 4.

It's also running on commercial radio.

Wendy Pauley, marketing director of s1jobs, says traffic to the site jumped 6% year on year, resulting in the business recording its busiest October.

She said: "The ad has been well received especially among our target market 22-30-year-olds who are particularly appreciative of Davey's twerking ways.

"This has been s1jobs biggest campaign in years and shows that despite being Scotland's biggest recruitment site we are committed to investing in our marketing and have even bigger plans for next year."

The campaign was created by Glasgow agency Frame.

Creative director Angus Walker said: "While we were mindful of s1's reputation for making popular and amusing TV ads, we were determined to create something that not only amused the masses but drove them to the s1jobs site and got them talking.

"The result is an ad that has raised a few eyebrows in more senses than one, and we are delighted with the response, the resulting increase in traffic, and the social media activity off the back of it."
