FEARS are growing over the whereabouts of a retired college lecturer who went missing nearly a week ago.

The family of 66-year-old Stephen Watt from Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire, are desperate to trace him.

He was last spotted on Lenzie Moss, the local nature reserve at around 2pm on Sunday.

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland said yesterday Mr Watt was still missing and inquiries into his disappearance were continuing.

As the Evening Times reported yesterday, Mr Watt's daughter Elise Watt made a desperate plea to help trace him.

She said: "We need more sightings of my dad to trace his steps.

"Lenzie is a small place and lots of people would have been out walking.

"Anything that can be done to raise awareness would be very much appreciated."

Posters and leaflets have been distributed around the area.

Mr Watt, a retired lecturer of Glasgow's Stow College, is white, around 5ft 10in, with a medium build, short grey hair and blue eyes.

He is believed to be wearing either a dark brown fleece jacket or blue coloured cagoule and tan coloured trousers.

Police said Mr Watt had never gone missing before and has recently been worried about the health of his mother and concern is mounting for his wellbeing.

Inspector Iain Greene said: "If anyone has seen Stephen or has any knowledge as to his whereabouts please do contact police immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
