MOTORISTS are facing tailbacks after a lorry became trapped under a bridge.
The incident happened around 2.20pm on Friday afternoon when the driver tried to go under a railway bridge in Milngavie.
But the bridge was too low to allow the lorry safely underneath and instead the vehicle slammed into a wall at the A81 junction with Auchenhowie Road.
The road was closed to allow police to assess the lorry and drivers faced delays.
There are no reports of any injuries and a recovery operation began around 6.30pm to try to move the lorry.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police received reports of a lorry being wedged underneath a bridge.
"A recovery operation is now underway."
