Radio presenter and television personality Vanessa Feltz says she is engaged in "the most passionate love affair of my life" - with her 20-month-old grandson, Zeke.

Feltz was awarded the Table Table Celebrity Grandparent of the Year award, and said she was delighted to receive "the best award I've ever won, for the best grand-baby in the universe".

Other finalists included Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry, Olympian and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, and the Queen. Speaking about the Queen, grandmother-of-one Feltz suggested: "I don't know if she's as hands on as I am - I change many, many nappies."

Feltz, 53, said she sees daughter Allegra's young son almost every day, explaining: "I've never felt anything like it, and the best thing is there's no limit on it. If I have 10 grandchildren, I would love them all as ferociously.

"The love has flooded in in this complete boundless way. It's hard to describe, but it's a completely unconditional, overwhelming tidal wave of love. All I want to do is make the world a better place so that he can go off and have a good life.

"I do everything Zeke tells me to do; I am his obedient servant and slave."

The award, run by restaurant chain Table Table, has been handed out in advance of National Grandparents Day on Sunday - a secular holiday originating in America which has started to catch on in the United Kingdom.

"We will have a family lunch to celebrate - and as grandma, I had better cook it," Feltz said, adding: "I am so delighted and thrilled to bits that there is an award that acknowledges grandparents and how important we are.

"We have a great role in expanding our grandchildren's lives and giving them a new layer of love. It's our legacy to the next generation and I'm so grateful."
