THE expression of joy on their faces told its own story.

Ivor Lough, Ross Allan and Oliver Jackson, the partners behind the Pets ’n’ Vets Family, were delighted to be named Glasgow’s Favourite Business.

The company had romped home to the title after obtaining a substantial number of votes from Evening Times readers.

Mr Jackson was presented with the award by Rob Bruce, Executive Editor of the Evening Times, at the 2015 Glasgow Business Awards, staged by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow’s William Street.

“We can’t believe we’ve won, it’s absolutely fantastic,” said Mr Jackson. 

Barrhead Travel, a winner of the Favourite Business title in 2010, this year won the  award for creative marketing. Chief executive Sharon Munro said: “We’re absolutely delighted.

“We were up against some really stiff competition so we’re thrilled to have won. Our team put a lot of hard effort into this and I couldn’t be happier for them.”
Film City Glasgow  won the Green Champion award.

As she came off the stage, with the award, general manager Sarah Potter said: “I’m shocked, but it was a lovely surprise.”

The family-owned GAP Group Hire Solutions won three awards – the award for people development, the award for best performing business (over 51 employees) and the Bank of Scotland award for most outstanding business.

More than 700 guests attended the black-tie dinner and awards, hosted by Fred MacAulay.

Stuart Patrick, Chamber Chief Executive, said: “The variety of winners at this year’s ceremony is a testament to Glasgow.”

Lord Gordon of Strathblane CBE – or Jimmy Gordon as he was to known TV and radio audiences – won the Lifetime Achievement Award for a career which included  launching Radio Clyde.
