One of the most iconic office buildings in Glasgow is to be overhauled as part of a £2million upgrade.
Tay House in Bath Street, which straddles the M8 motorway, is to undergo extensive refurbishment to 50,000 square feet of its office space.
The upgrade by the owner, Regional REIT`s asset manager London and Scottish Property, includes new mechanical cooling as well as additional showers and cycle storage facilities in the basement.
This significant part of Tay House, with its huge, column-free, open area includes one floor of 30,000 square feet which spans the M8 across to Charing Cross.
The refurbishment is expected to be completed in early April 2016 and follows the major upgrading and extension to the main entrance and the letting of the top floor to the University of Glasgow.
Ken McInnes, Ryden Partner, said: “The building represents great value for money given that alternative availability is mostly limited to new Grade A developments with significantly higher occupational costs.”
Colin MacKenzie, Knight Frank Partner, added: “This is significant space, column-free, and ideal for occupiers’ space planning needs.”
