A man has been taken to hospital after a serious road crash.
The incident happened at about 6.20am on Sunday when the white Seat Toledo car the 37-year-old was driving hit a crash barrier on the A78 near Kilwinning, North Ayrshire.
Emergency services attended the scene and the driver was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where his condition is described as serious but stable.
The northbound carriageway of the road was closed for about three-and-a-half hours with local diversions put in place.
Police Sergeant Kevin Blackley said: "Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact officers on 101."
