Glasgow South West MP Chris Stephens will raise the plight of asylum seekers during a Westminster Hall debate this morning.
Mr Stephens has been approached by refugees at weekly surgeries who claim they have been poorly treated.
He said: “I have met a young single mum of two who is housed with another family in a two bedroom flat and she is not allowed access to cooking facilities until late at night which prevents her from feeding her children.
“I’ve met a single man who was put in a one bedroom property with blood spattered on the bedroom wall and when he complained he was told he had signed for and accepted the flat.
“Another gentleman was put into a hotel and was not given an Azure Card (government-issued card pre-loaded with £35.39 a week) to get food but was instead he was given an Asda card and the nearest store was four miles away.
“The way asylum seekers are being treated is absolutely disgraceful. There are a lot of serious allegations now flying around about how they are being treated. It really is despicable.
“The Westminster hall debate is an ideal opportunity to highlight that.”
Mr Stephens is scheduled to speak during the Westminster Hall debate which will be held between 9.30am and 11am this morning.
