Hollywood action star Vin Diesel has got in touch with his Scottish heritage after he was gifted a specially designed kilt.

The actor, real name Mark Sinclair, was gifted the kilt by Scottish co-star Rory McCann.

The pair are due to appear in next year's "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage".

Rory, famous for his portrayal of Sandor Clegane in "Game of Thrones", has built a friendship with Vin since they met on the set of the movie.

When he discovered Vin's real name, he called his friend Brian Halley who owns the Slanj kilt shop in Glasgow.

Brian and his staff made the kilt which features weathered hunting Sinclair tartan and a sporran emblazoned with the movie's logo.

The sporran was designed by Stephen Drake of Herd of Sporrans.

Brian said: "Rory is an old friend of mine and when he got the part in this movie, he found out that Vin's real name is Mark Sinclair.

"Rory asked me if we could make a kilt for Vin as they get on well together.

"The whole kilt was handmade, including the sporran featuring the movie logo. It was completely hand cut.

"The kilt took us a whole day to make."

Vin is famous for his action star build but Brian was well prepared.

He added: "Obviously Vin is a pretty big guy but Rory was able to give us an idea of his measurements and we spoke to the movie's costume department as well."

Vin showed his gratitude by uploading a video of the kilt to social media on Saturday.

It's had almost 700,000 views.

Rory gifted the kilt with a letter, saying: "No Sinclair should be without his clan tartan."

Vin captioned the video: "Thanks to my friend Rory McCann for this very cool kilt. Now the little angels want their own."

Brian revealed it was not the first time they had made a kilt for a celebrity.

He said: "Slanj has been open for 20 years and we've made a lot of kilts for celebrities in that time.

"Sean Connery, Ewan McGregor, Billy Connolly and even the Kings of Leon have had kilts made by us before."
