SNP councillor Angus Millar has been elected in the Anderston/City ward of Glasgow.
The by-election took place on May 5 as voters went to the polls to decide the make-up of the Scottish Parliament for the next four years.
He said: "Absolutely delighted to have been elected the SNP councillor for Anderston/City! I'll work hard to repay the trust voters have placed in me."
Councillor Greg Hepburn added: "Congratulations to our newest Glasgow SNP colleague. Yesterday, the people of Glasgow gave a massive vote of confidence in the SNP."
The by-election came about after former city council leader Gordon Matheson resigned from his position back in March.
The Labour politician took up a new role with the University of Strathclyde.
