A train driver has been arrested for allegedly being intoxicated while on duty.
The ScotRail driver was reportedly several times over the drink-drive limit when he was arrested in Edinburgh's Waverlet Station on Wednesday night.
It has been reported that the man had been involved in coupling carriages for the 11.30pm train to Queen Street and may have been about to drive a train to Glasgow.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police (BTP) said: "At about 11.45pm on Wednesday, a 54-year-old man was arrested for allegedly being intoxicated while on duty as a train driver."
The spokeperson added that BTP would wait for the results of tests before sending a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
ScotRail said that it was aware and would assist the BTP investigation.
