POLICE have released the descriptions of gunmen who shot two men in a brazen targeted attack in Hamilton. 

The shooting happened in a footpath between Millgate Road and Westwood Crescent in the town at around 2.30pm on Monday, June 27 prompting police to launch a major investigation.

Their victims have been named locally as 26-year-old Craig Burns and 27-year-old James McSorley. 

It is understood Burns lost an eye after he was blasted in the face. 

He also sustained injuries to his head and chest.

He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.

McSorley received injuries to his face and head.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Police Scotland say enquiries have revealed that two men were in the area at the time of the attack.

Descriptions of both men are limited but the first man is described as around 5ft 6ins in height, wearing a balaclava and a dark coloured jacket.

The second man is described as over 6 ft tall with short hair in a crew cut style.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have been in the surrounding area and who may have seen these men to get in touch.
