A GLASGOW foodbank issued a call for donations... and generous east end shoppers responded with THREE TONNES of supplies.

Glasgow North East Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, held a collection in Tesco Parkhead Retail Park for four days.

And organisers were delighted to receive piles of food and toiletries to support their clients.

Coordinator Tara Maguire said: "We have been completely overwhelmed, once again, by the outstanding generosity of the members of our community.

"We can't thank everyone who donated food, toiletries, nappies, enough for their support in helping us sustain our service.

"Our volunteers have also once again shown their dedication and commitment to Glasgow NE and our heartfelt thanks goes out to every person involved over the four days.

"We can not do any of this without such amazing support from those who make it all possible."

The donations will provide 3765 meals to men, women and children experiencing food poverty across the foodbank's distribution area, ensuring no one goes hungry.
