AN American Twitter user who shares the same name as footballer Kenny Miller has asked Rangers fans to stop messaging him.

Kenny, 18, who lives in Pittsburgh is bombarded with messages congratulating him on his games.

Football clubs have even been liking the comments as they believe that Kenny is actually the Rangers player.

Kenny said that the messages have been coming in for almost a year now.

He said: "I don’t want to sound like a d**k, but I AM NOT A SOCCER PLAYER! People keep tweeting at me telling me I had a great game. Please stop."

He also posted: "People are hitting me up left and right, congratulating me on my soccer game. I'm an 18 year old American kid."

Scottish striker Kenny Miller is not on Twitter so fans are unable to message him directly.

Despite pleading social media users to stop, footy fans have been continuing to send in tweets.

Pranksters are continuing to message following yesterday's Scottish Cup match that saw Rangers beat Motherwell 2-1.

Twitter user @dalrsc1 posted a picture of the footballer in action, saying: “Some header mate. You look different in your profile picture though.”
