AN INVESTIGATION has been launched by an independent body to look into an allegation of criminal neglect against officers serving with Police Scotland.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) has been instructed by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) to carry out the investigation.
Police Scotland has not revealed which division the serving officers work.
A spokeswoman for the PIRC said: “The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has instructed the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) to investigate an allegation of criminal neglect against officers serving with Police Scotland.
“A report on the Commissioner’s findings will be submitted to the COPFS in due course.”
