POLICE have identified the man who was killed in a "violent and brutal" attack in the Castemilk area of Glasgow.

The body of John Cameron, aged 46, was discovered within a property on Friday afternoon. 

Officers were called to a property in Stonebank Grove around 2.15pm hours after a friend made the discovery.

A post mortem examination will take place to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as murder.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "With reference to our previous appeal for information after a 46-year-old man was found dead within a property in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow on Friday, February 17, please note:

"The deceased can now be named as John Cameron, 46. Relatives are aware.

"A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as murder."
