If you’re jetting off on holiday this summer, but don’t know what to do with the family dog, fear not, for there’s a new luxury dog hotel in town (there’s a sentence you never thought you’d read).
It’s true, though. Lanarkshire is set to become home to The Dogchester - the area’s premier hotel for pooches.
Based in Lesmahagow, and created by dog-loving husband-and-wife team, Brian and Margaret, the pair explained how they found it difficult to find suitable boarding for their family pets when planning breaks away.
Rejecting traditional kennels, the couple finally decided to create their own accommodation - and share it with the people of Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

Describing the new property, the couple said on their website: “No expense has been spared to create the eight individual suites which can accommodate up to four pets from the same family.
“Each one has thermostatically-controlled heating, wall-mounted TV, comfortable bedding, and all have individual private outdoor runs.”
The couple has ensured dog-owners that the hotel is located in beautiful, rural land, and added: “We have acres of secured outdoor space for walks and exercise, plus a large activity area indoors for inclement weather.”
The Dogchester is located just off the M74 in Lesmahagow and is set to open in the first week of April.
