The University of Glasgow has walked away with the prestigious Glasgow Taxis Cup Champions title this year.
The Russell Group institution’s win makes this seven years in a row it has beaten city rivals Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Strathclyde.
The event brought together more than 700 student athletes from all three universities who competed across 16 core sporting areas on Wednesday, including athletics, badminton, basketball, cross country, equestrian, fencing, and football.
Points were allocated to the winner of individual sports events in order to decide the victorious university.
Much of the sporting action took place at Scotstoun Sports Campus, Stepps Playing Fields, Garscube Sports Complex, and GCU Arc.
Ruari Thomson, sports president at Glasgow University Sports Union, described how the teams there had been training hard all year and put in a “great shift” over the course of the competition.
“It’s great to see that being rewarded with bringing home the trophy for a seventh year in a row,” he said.
“All three universities fought their hardest and I think this has shown how great student sport is in Glasgow right now. Bring on next year,” he added.
