A MAN who decided to start selling drugs to pay off a drug debt has been sent to prison.

John McShane, of Langhess Road in Cranhill, attempted to make money by selling bags of heroin.

His business venture was discovered by cops who stopped him in his car on Langness Road on April 12, last year.

McShane was detained by officers who carried out a search of his car.

A thorough search of his car revealed that he had been in possession of drugs with an intent to supply.

18 small bags of powder diamorphine with a street value of around £360 were discovered underneath the gear stick.

McShane appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to the charges.

His defence agent told the court that his client had intended to sell the drugs to people he knew from his past.

It was added that McShane had a significant amount of drug debt that he had to pay off.

In order to generate cash, he decided to start selling drugs to former associates.

Sheriff Kelly decided that there was no alternative to a custodial sentence for McShane and instead handed him a six month jail sentence.
