Labour leader, Kezia Dugdale was campaigning in Glasgow calling for more affordable homes to be built.

Ms Dugdale said the SNP should be solving a housing crisis in Scotland, not campaigning for a second independence referendum.

The party leader visited a housing association in Glasgow and said there was a housing shortage that needed urgent action.

Ms Dugdale, on a trip to Parkhead Housing Association with Glasgow East candidate Kate Watson, said: “We have a housing crisis in Scotland and we urgently need to build more homes.

“But we have an SNP government that is more interested in breaking-up Britain than building homes.

“We need to start building more homes as it is the twin track route to a better nation that will cut poverty and stimulate the economy. “

Labour said there are at least 150,000 households on waiting lists for housing in Scotland.

Ms Dugdale said Shelter Scotland has said 60,000 homes need to be built by 2021 to address the housing shortage.

She said Scottish Labour was committed to meeting that figure.
