A MAN has appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow accused of murdering 46-year-old John Cameron in his home.
James Brennan, 57, is charged with repeatedly hitting Mr Cameron on the head and body with a hammer and stamping on his body at 5 Stonebank Grove, Castlemilk, on February 16.
He is also alleged to have assaulted Marissa Murphy to the danger of her life by repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a hammer.
Brennan is charged with stealing a quantity of controlled drugs and a sum of money from 5 Stonebank Grove, on February 16.
Brennan is also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by telling Ms Murphy he would kill her and her children if she said anything to the authorities, and disposing of clothing and footwear.
He faces further charges of being concerned in the supply of heroin on February 16 and 17, and possession of heroin.
Brennan denies all the charges against him.
Defence QC Donald Findlay, representing Brennan, said: “The trial is expected to last 10 to 12 days.”
Judge Lord Burns set the trial for September at the High Court in Edinburgh.
