A GLASGOW football academy has helped kids in Zimbabwe fall in love with the beautiful game.
The Sons of Struth launched their youth system at New Tinto Park two years ago and have gone from strength to strength as kids from across the city and beyond make the most of a chance to pull on their boots.
On Friday, the SoS were visited by Babuluki “Dobbs” Phuti as he saw the impact that football has had on the lives of those involved.
The group donated strips and boots for Dobbs to take home with him as he looks to start his own team in the Mphoengs Provence.
Sons of Struth founder Craig Houston said: “SoS aim to provide football for underprivileged kids at home and abroad and will soon be announcing plans for a scheme that will hopefully allow local kids, who otherwise would be unable to play organised football.
“Youth football is becoming unaffordable to many kids due to rising costs of pitches, etc. and even boots are becoming an item for those privileged enough to afford them.
“Many of Scotland’s most gifted players of the past came from deprived backgrounds and may not have been able to play youth football today.”
