BUSINESSES from across Scotland are being given the chance promote themselves at a major Glasgow sporting event.

Along with 386 businesses from around the country, more than 120 Glasgow-based businesses have already registered for the chance to be part of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

Those given a tendering contract, each with a value of over £50,000, will cover a range of services including ground transport, media operations, audio visual systems and sports equipment.

The multi-sport event has already awarded nine procurement opportunities covering a total value of £16,500,000.

A further 17 tendering contracts are still to be made available.

The Glasgow 2018 European Championships, to be held every four years, will combine the existing European Championships of Athletics, Aquatics, Cycling, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon.

The first edition will be held between August 2 and 12, in a special sporting partnership between Host Cities Glasgow and Berlin.
