A Glasgow uncle who issued a heart-wrenching appeal for football tops for pallbearers to wear at his nephew’s funeral is urging people to keep donating them.
Posting an image of 19-year-old Connor online tonight, Derek Sutherland told of how the teen passed away on Wednesday after “a long, long fight with leukaemia.”
He said: “Connor was an inspiration to many people during his short life.
“He also raised money for cancer charities. Now, it is time to do something for him.”
Derek went on to explain how Connor was a big St Mirren fan and, when he was able enough to, would be in the stands cheering his team on.
Derek continued: “We were hoping the coffin bearers would be able to carry Connor while wearing St Mirren football tops, but we are really struggling to find any.
“A couple of the guys do have their own, but is there anyone out there who would be willing to lend theirs for the Monday, and they will be washed and returned?”
Also asking the public to donate them to the Teenage Cancer Trust if they would rather that, Derek has since extended “a huge thank you” to everyone who helped with his request.
He has issued a post saying: “I think we now have all that we need and will be picking them up on Sunday.
“If people can share, that would be great. Thank you once again.”
