FORMER Partick Thistle player Ade Azeez is to stand trial this month over allegations a car he was driving struck a cyclist and failed to stop.
The 23-year-old striker allegedly drove dangerously in Haggs Road near Craigholme Sports Complex on October 24 last year.
Prosecutors claim Azeez, now signed to Cambridge United, drove too fast for the road conditions and undertook cars.
It’s alleged he “failed to react to Robert McKelvie, a cyclist on the road and did strike his bicycle with your motor vehicle, causing the wing mirror to fall off”.
Papers from Glasgow Sheriff Court further allege that Azeez then did “continue to drive at speed and fail to stop to check on the welfare of Mr McKelvie”.
The case called for a pre-trial hearing at the court yesterday, where Azeez was not present but was represented.
Sheriff Ian Miller continued the case to trial later this month.
Azeez, who is originally from Orpington, London, played for Patrick Thistle from June 2016.
He made 46 appearances for the Jags and scored three goals.
