Ally McCoist has revealed the hilarious reason his former Rangers team-mate Paul Gascoigne broke into his house at 3am- to make a SANDWICH.
The former Ibrox manager told the amusing story as he co-hosted the talkSPORT breakfast show with Max Rushden.
He said: "He’s the best. He used to live in the next village to me.
"Now this is a true story…I was in my bed – it was 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning.
"My wife said, ‘There’s someone downstairs, I’m telling you, there’s someone downstairs’.
"And sure enough, there’s someone there.
"I jumped up, I got a three iron.
"I could never hit one at the best of times but I’ve got a pair of shorts on, and a three iron.
"The noises were coming from the kitchen and I’m thinking it’s a burglar. I’m ready to react to what happens.
"I kick open the kitchen door…and I recognise the back of Paul Gascoigne in my fridge.
"He didn’t even turn around!
"I said, ‘Paul, what are you doing?’
"He’s still not turned around – ‘I’m making a sandwich’.
"It’s half past three in the morning.
"He says, ‘I woke up and I couldn’t get back to sleep – I’m hungry and I didn’t have food in the fridge.’”
He added: "I said to him, ‘How did you manage to get in?’
"He says, ‘Remember about three or four weeks you, you told your missus you were leaving a key for her underneath the oak tree…’
"I went back upstairs and my wife asked what was going on.
"I said, ‘It’s only Gazza – he’s making a sandwich’.
"It was madness on a regular basis. Never a dull moment!"
