A BUS went on fire during rush hour traffic on one of the busiest roads from East Kilbride into Glasgow.
Firefighters were called to the scene at the Kingsgate roundabout shortly after 7am after several commuters spotted the blaze.
Two fire appliances put out the blaze using hose reel jets and left the area after 8am.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said no one was injured.
The A749 road is one of the main routes used by motorists travelling between Glasgow and East Kilbride.
A lane was blocked because of the fire and motorists were warned of delays.
