A MAN caught growing cannabis has avoided jail.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, James Gray admitted producing and being in possession of the controlled drug at his home address on September 13, 2016.
The court was told that police officers recovered four large and 25 small cannabis plants after a search of the 48-year-old's property in Gartloch Road.
Cultivation equipment – including a fan and lights – were found, as well as loose herbal cannabis.
Gray was sentenced to a Community Payback Order with one-year supervision and 200 hours of unpaid work to be completed within six months as a direct alternative to custody.
