A woman has died in a head-on crash between two cars in North Ayrshire.
The woman, 37, was driving a grey Seat Ibiza southbound on the A736 in Burnhouse that collided with a bronze Renault Grand Scenic travelling in the opposite direction at about 6.10pm on Saturday.
Emergency services were called but the woman died at the scene.
The 57-year-old male driver of the Renault was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to leg injuries and is said to be in a stable condition.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and appealed for any witnesses to contact officers on 101.
