Film fans have been given an early Christmas present in the form of an extra special festival line-up for 2018.

Glasgow Film Festival 2018 will see the return of special event screenings with club venue SWG3 turning into the ultimate 80s v 90s school disco as audiences are given the choice to watch either Scottish classic Gregory’s Girl or cult chick-flick Clueless.

The screenings will be followed by a massive school disco-themed party with top DJs spinning favourite dance floor fillers and heartbreakers from across the decades.

Also coming to the next year's festival is Scottish Album of the Year winners, Sacred Paws.

The Glasgow-based two piece will be making their soundtracking debut on artist and filmmaker Margaret Salmon’s Mm.

Shot on location on 35mm film with the all-male speedway motorcycle team the Berwick Bandits, Mm is an exploration of language, masculinity and racing incorporating the explosive sounds of speedway alongside live music and voice from the post-punk band.

Oscar-nominated composer Mica Levi, who composed the original soundtracks for Under The Skin and Jackie, will be performing live in the Scottish premiere of The Unfilmables - a celebration of music, imagination and the greatest movies never made.

To coincide with event, co-produced by Tramway and LUX Scotland, an exhibition of Margaret Salmon’s acclaimed work will run in Tramway’s main gallery from February 16 to March 18.

More special events will be announced along with the full festival programme on January 24.

Tickets to The Unfilmables and Mm go on sale Thursday 14 December and GFF School Disco: Gregory’s Girl and Clueless go on sale Wednesday 20 December from glasgowfilm.org/festival.
