TWO masked intruders forced their way into a man's home before repeatedly stabbing him.

The victim was rushed to Monklands Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Detectives are now appealing for information following the serious assault within the Plains area of Airdrie in the early hours of Monday morning.

At around 12.05am, the 37-year-old victim was at home in Millhall Court when two men entered and repeatedly stabbed him before making off towards the junction with Arbuckle Road.

It is believed a vehicle may have been waiting there for them.

The two men involved are described as wearing dark clothing and had items covering their faces.

Detective Sergeant David Lamont from Coatbridge CID said: “This was an extremely violent attack which we believed was targeted and extensive enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area just after midnight on Monday morning who may have heard a disturbance or saw two men running away from Millhall Court to please get in touch.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who noticed a vehicle parked in Arbuckle Road near to the junction with Millhall Court around the time of the attack."
