SCOTLAND'S biggest animal charity is urging pet lovers to take care of their animals as the beast from the East continues to sweep across the country.
The Scottish SPCA took to social media to offer tips for owners on how to care for their pets and wild animals during severe weather.
The animal emergency line operated by the charity has been closed due to the dangerous driving conditions but will reopen as "soon as it's safe to do so".
Those who spot animals in distress are urged to contact Police Scotland.
The charity said: "As even more heavy snow is forecast throughout Scotland we're urging pet owners to ensure their furry, feathered and scaled friends are all safe from the #BeastFromTheEast.
"You should consider bringing rabbits and guinea pugs inside, or into a shed or garage. If you do leave them outside they should have plenty of extra bedding and an insulated hutch and you should check their water bottles have not frozen.
"When walking dogs be careful your four-legged companion stays away from frozen rivers and lakes.
"Wild birds can often struggle to find food during the winter months so help them out by leaving seeds and fat balls outside for them."
