A DRIVER who was clocked speeding at 79mph just outside of Robroyston has been left lighter in the pocket for putting pedal to the metal.
Paul Harrison, 43, was snared in the 50mph zone on the northbound carriage of the M80 near Saughs Road on June 28, 2014.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that it was around 11.22pm, the weather was dry, the visibility good and the traffic light.
In defence it was claimed that Harrison was only a short distance from where the national speed limit would have started – but it was accepted he still would have been over the limit.
Sheriff Allan Findlay fined the accused £200 and added five points onto his licence.
Harrison, of Lamberton Avenue in Stirling, was also admonished for failing to appear at court without a reasonable excuse on May 19, 2016.
