THE people of Glasgow have been invited to celebrate what should have been Paige Doherty's 18th birthday.
In a bid to remember their beloved daughter how she lived rather than focus on her tragic death almost two years ago, parents Pamela and Andy Munro are hosting a glamorous affair next month - just as the 15-year-old wanted.
Paige was murdered at 15
The first annual Paige's Promise ball will take place on April 14 and is set to benefit the teen's charity, set up in the wake of her murder by her doting family in a bid to help others in a similar situation.
Years after promising the Whitecrook schoolgirl her favourite DJ George Bowie would play for 18th birthday, 35-year-old Pamela is making her daughter's dream come true.
Hit makers Zander Nation will perform a set while former DJ Suzie McGuire will be on hand to host the event.

It will be an emotional evening for the couple and their four younger children but they are determined to ensure the teen's big birthday will be celebrated just the way she wanted it to be.
Speaking exclusively to the Evening Times about the event last month, Pamela said: “I always told Paige that she would have an 18th birthday party and George Bowie would be the DJ.

“This is the first time I’ve felt nervous speaking because Paige’s birthday was a big birthday for us. She couldn’t wait to go to the pub with me, and the dancing with me.

“It’s a big thing to have her 18th without her and having a such a big event, pulling it off, making it successful – it’s a lot of pressure.”
