A FUNDRAISING page has been set up for the funeral of a Summerston woman who was found dead at the Forth and Clyde Canal.

The body of Alison McAllister, 56, was discovered on Tuesday at around 1.30pm after police received a call.

The carer was found at the Forth and Clyde Canal, near to Cleveden Road, Maryhill.

Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and Police Scotland appealed for information from the public in a bid to piece together Alison’s final moments.

Now friends of her family have set up a JustGiving page in a bid to raise £500 for her funeral.

The page, set up by Leisa Lucas, states that the money will go to Alison’s children Laura and Garry.

Leisa said: “Alison was a kind woman who loved her family.

“She was always so full of fun and often had everyone laughing.

“She welcomed everyone into her home including all Laura and Garry’s friends who often arrived on a Friday and forgot to leave till Monday but Alison loved the madness.”

She added: “Alison’s passing has come as a massive shock to everyone who knew and loved her.

“Alison was a lovely person who would help in your time of need.

“In her memory, myself and Stephanie have decided it’s time for all who loved and cared about her to give Alison and her family something back in their time of need.

“Let's help make sure Alison gets the send off she deserves. Shine bright up there Alison you are already so sadly missed.”

The page has attracted £400 worth of donations since it was set up a day ago.

Concern for Alison grew after she vanished from Asda in Summerston at around 5.20pm on Monday.

She got into her Vauxhall Mokka car and drove off.

Her car was later found in Collina Street at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Craig McPhail said: “It’s imperative we find out how Alison died and the circumstances which led to her death. Her family is understandably very upset and we want to provide them with answers. I am appealing to members of the public who were in the Summerston, Maryhill and Canal Path areas to think back and consider if they saw Alison or her car. Was she alone, was she with someone? It's important that we find out her movements and I would urge anyone who thinks they may have seen her or has any information which could assist our enquiries, to get in touch with."

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID officers at Maryhill Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 1664 of Monday 19 March 2018.
