A SPRINGBURN man who bypassed his electricity meter was snared growing cannabis.
Bartek Hadula, 33, was caught when he returned home to find police in the midst of executing a search warrant.
Glasgow Sheriff Court was told that eight cannabis plants worth £200 each were recovered, along with green herbal material worth £100.
Hadula pleaded guilty to producing the Class B drug at his home address on April 21 last year. He also admitted bypassing a ScottishPower meter.
In defence, Miss Monaghan claimed that her client – who is originally from Poland – smoked "too much cannabis" at the time, but has since abstained since his arrest.
She highlighted Hadula's positive Criminal Justice Social Work report, adding that he was "regretful and remorseful".
Sheriff Gerard Bonnar sentenced Hadula, of Ratho Drive, to a Community Payback Order with 135 hours of unpaid work to be completed within nine months.
