A SECOND inmate has been found dead in Barlinnie prison in Glasgow's East End.
The Scottish Prison Service said that George Edwin Eaton Lever had died at the age of 49, weeks after being convicted.
He had previously been convicted at Greenock Sheriff Court on March 27, 2018.
The death is the second at the notorious prison that we have reported on in the last week.
Last week, we revealed that Thomas Robert Leiper had died at the age of 43.
He had previously been convicted at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on December 4, 2015.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: "George Edwin Eaton Lever, 49, a prisoner at HMP Barlinnie has died.
"He was convicted at Greenock Sheriff Court on 27 March 2018. Police Scotland have been advised and the matter will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
"A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course."
