THE Free Range Folk Stage – in association with Glachbeg Croft – returns to Belladrum.

Set up to showcase up and coming acoustic acts from around the Highlands and beyond, the stage is curated by Bob Bull from Glachbeg.

He said: “2018 is gearing up for another exciting year with a mix of singer-songwriters and bands throughout the weekend.

“From its roots providing a platform for local acts both young and old, it now hosts performers from all around Scotland, and we are particularly proud to give opportunities for young musicians to begin their festival careers.

“We are also delighted to have performances from the Music+ youth music mentoring programme and look forward to the odd ceilidh and strip the willow too.”

This year sees a mix of rising talent with Keir Gibson, Connor Johnston, Sharon Martin, Sarah Gallacher, Kelvin Ross, Alice Brown, Elis McFadyen, Wilson Noble and Stephen Mackintosh all making their debut at the festival.

Gordon James and The Power, Lazy Jams, Park Circus (acoustic), Niven and Gavin, The Fonsecas, Alan Frew Band and Moteh Parrot will also play, cementing the reputation of the Free Range Folk Stage as a true hidden gem of the festival.

A Celtic element comes from Calum Mackenzie Jones and The Trad Project who will not only finish off the Friday night but will lead the annual strip the willow set at 3pm earlier that day. Also performing are Strumness, Sons o’ The Soil and duo Donald and Peigi Barker.
