GLASGOW has never been a city to lie low. Workers and students have long-since fought for their rights and to have their voices heard.
From the time the Government moved into action and sent tanks into Glasgow to deal with strikers in 1919, to when 500 women workers at Rolls Royce went on strike in 1955 as part of their demand for an increase of nine shillings and sixpence per week, the city’s troubles and strikes have shaped many of today’s protests.
