A GLASGOW stylist has reached the final of a prestigious hairdressing competition.

Patrick McDougall, art director at Rainbow Room International George Square Salon, has been named as one of the UK’s brightest young stars after making The It List shortlist.

Demonstrating standout skills, original thinking and an awesome determination to succeed, Patrick is one of five finalists within The It Guy category.

He said: “I feel so honoured to be up against so many other incredible industry names and to win would be absolutely incredible, and would benefit my career immensely.”

Now in its ninth year, The It List looks for the most talented, ambitious and creative UK hairdressers aged 30 and under, who are storming the industry, turning heads and fast making their mark.

If Patrick goes on to win, he will receive a prestigious It List trophy, an exclusive ghd workshop experience, and 12 months of profile-projecting coverage with Creative HEAD in print and online. Past winners have gone on to shoot with high-profile magazines, become ambassadors for global brands, launch successful salon businesses, lead backstage teams at London Fashion Week and get signed by top artist management agencies. They’ve also presented at exclusive Creative HEAD events up and down the country.

Amanda Nottage, Creative HEAD editor, added: “The It List is an unprecedented opportunity for red-hot young talent to be noticed by those who really matter, and see their careers explode as a result.”

The It List grand final will take place at London’s Natural History Museum on Monday, September 3.
