Carol, who is best known for presenting Wheel of Fortune and Changing Rooms, said: “Probably the best show I’ve seen since Billy Elliot. Well done to all the cast and crew. I laughed, cried and sang my heart out.”

The Band began its life as a musical through the BBC reality television show Let It Shine, which aired last year.

The musical by Tim Firth, who is also behind Our House and Calendar Girls, opened to rave reviews in Manchester Opera House last September, and the current tour will continue until March 2019.
